Healthy Roots 101

The cannabis plant root zone is your basis and the strength of your entire plant. How much it will yield and how well it will grow all starts right there. The bigger and healthier your root system is, directly correlates to your plants reaching their maximum potential and beyond. The temperature, moisture level and available oxygen will directly affect your plants growth

Roots are covered in millions of very tiny hairs that absorb the minerals and water from your growing medium. They store the starches and sugars that your plant uses for photosynthesis. Photosynthesis turns those stored starches and sugars into food and energy for your plant. The bigger and healthier your roots means that they can absorb, store and send more to your plants.

One fact that I think kind of escapes people is that the roots need OXYGEN but the plant needs CARBON DIOXIDE. This is why plants normally do so well in breathable grow bags. But, with outdoor grows you should till up the soil every few weeks to get oxygen to those root zones. Sure, they will still grow if you don’t but we are talking about maximum yield here. Just like most things in life, you get out of it what you put in to it.
